Our Business Divisions
Miniplast has two main business divisions: Production and Recycling. In addition to these business divisions, Miniplast has company departments assisting them such as Quality, Toolroom and Fabrication, Operations or Sustainability
Our History
Miniplast Ltd. is a Ghana-based company specializing in plastic product manufacturing and recycling. Founded in 1988 as a family-owned business, Miniplast has built extensive expertise in plastic injection and blow molding, utilizing both virgin resin materials and recycled plastic pellets. Today, the company manufactures and exports a wide range of plastic products for commercial, industrial, and household use.
In 2020, after years of careful planning, Miniplast launched its plastic recycling business unit. Responding to the urgent challenge of plastic pollution, Miniplast has continuously expanded its recycling capacity, diverting thousands of tons of plastic waste from landfills and waterways since the unit’s inception.
In July 2023, the Norwegian Investment Fund for Developing Countries (Norfund) invested in Miniplast to support its growth in both manufacturing and recycling. This investment facilitated the acquisition of advanced manufacturing equipment, enabling Miniplast to expand its product offerings. Additionally, Norfund’s support has allowed the company to enhance its recycling capabilities, increasing capacity to 1,500 tonnes per month. By substituting imported plastic resins with locally sourced recycled materials, Miniplast is able to reduce production costs and further its commitment to environmental sustainability.
Production
Our production process involves manufacturing high-quality plastic products through both injection and blow molding techniques. We utilize a blend of virgin resin and recycled plastic pellets, ensuring a balance between product durability and sustainability. By combining advanced molding technologies with a commitment to eco-friendly materials, we deliver precision-engineered plastic solutions that meet diverse industry needs while minimizing environmental impact.
Plastic Injection Molding Department
We have multiple sets of machines with a capacity to produce 220 tons per week, making products of all sizes and shapes such as buckets, basins, tables, chairs, construction blocks and packaging containers of various sizes and shapes. Our excellent technical team, stable machines, and quality assurance teamwork around the clock to guarantee high-quality products.
Blow Molding Department
With multiple sets of machines producing 250ml to 20litres and a weekly capacity of producing 20 tons, the products from this department are widely used in the packaging industry because of their strong, durable, and cost-effective qualities. Our workshop can make any required mold.
Fabrication Department
Within our facility, we maintain a specialized area exclusively for the production of metal parts. Here, we manufacture all chair legs and metal frames. Additionally, we conduct powder coating spraying of these parts. Our fabrication workshop is equipped with a comprehensive array of machinery, including pipe cutting machines, bending machines, MIG welding machines, punching machines, and rivet machines. Moreover, we have designated spaces for a spray booth area and an oven to facilitate the coating process.
Toolroom Department
Responsible for the making of new moulds and repairing, modifying and maintaining existing moulds. The tool area houses a 3-D Printer machine, Manual Lathe Machines, Band Saw Machines, EDM Spark Erosion Machine, CNC Discharge Machine, Pressing Machines, a Sand Blast, Radial Drilling Machines, Tapping Machines, Universal Milling Machines, Laser Welding Machines, Deep Engraving Machines, CNC Lathe Machines, CNC Milling Machines, CNC Gun Drilling Machines, a EDM Wire Cutting Machine and a Surface Grinder.
Quality Department
Located within the production area, this unit ensures the durability, performance, and safety of prototypes and finished products, aligning with high-quality standards. In our quality laboratory, we possess various equipment for measuring, sealing, and assessing wall thickness. Additionally, we maintain a dedicated area specifically for conducting microbial testing.
Recycling
Our recycling process begins with the collection of industrial waste and post-consumer plastics, which are meticulously shredded and washed. The cleaned material is then melted and extruded into high-quality recycled plastic pellets. These pellets are reintegrated into Miniplast's production cycle or supplied to third-party manufacturing companies, contributing to a circular economy and promoting sustainable manufacturing practices.
Washing Department
Our facility features comprehensive washing lines, including 6 grinders, 1 automatic single sharp shredder (for both hard and soft material), a PP washing line, and a PET washing line. These facilities ensure the purity and quality of recycled materials
Recycle Department
In our recycling operations, we operate 5 pelletizing lines, allocated as follows: 2 for PP products, 2 for PP and HDPE, and 1 for LDPE film. Moreover, our Tamale facility is equipped with 5 grinding machines, one of which functions as both a grinding and washing line, alongside a fully automatic washing line for PP and PE materials. Meanwhile, at our Kumasi site, we operate 3 grinding machines for PP and PE, in addition to 1 fully automatic washing line.
